Toucans Class Newsletter
It has been an amazing start to the new school year. The children have come together from different classes and have worked hard to build new friendships and settle into their new routines. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow, with many positive days and a gradual reduction in the trickier moments. As the year progresses, we look forward to seeing every child continue to make progress on their own unique learning journey.
This term, our theme has been Keeping Ourselves Safe. During our PSHE lessons, we have explored different emotions and strategies to help regulate them. The children have been learning how to recognise their feelings, identify trusted adults at school, at home and within the community, and understand when and how to ask for help when needed.
Maths
In Maths, we have been exploring place value with numbers from 0 to 100. The children have been practising counting forwards and backwards, as well as finding one more and one less. These are important skills that we will continue to develop throughout the year.
English
In English, we have been studying Baller Boys by Venessa Taylor. It has been fantastic to see the children engage with the story. They have used the book to answer comprehension questions, sequence events, and write simple sentences. We have also been focusing on using capital letters and full stops correctly in their independent writing.
Science
In Science, we have explored Animals Including Humans. The children have learned about animals and their young, life cycles, and the different stages of growth and development. It was lovely to see the baby pictures of both the adults and children in class.
Times Tables Rock Stars
Every Friday is our Times Tables Rock Stars Day! The children enjoy practising their multiplication skills using the TTRockstars app. All children have been given their login details, which can be found in their reading records. We encourage regular practice at home, and please let us know if you would like any guidance on how to support your child.
The children have worked incredibly hard this term, engaging well with their learning and making good progress towards their individual targets. We are very proud of all they have achieved so far.
Thank you for your continued support at home. We greatly appreciate your partnership in helping the children to succeed.
With love,
The Toucans Class Team
