How quickly this term has flown by! Wow.

We would like to start by saying a massive well done to every child in Year 2 for such a fantastic year – you have all worked incredibly hard and made superb progress.

This term has seen the introduction of Mr Penguin and his crazy adventures in the Museum of Extraordinary things.  We had great fun imagining we were both Mr Penguin and Colin the spider to write creative and funny diary entries.

In Maths we have learnt how to tackle worded problems, all about movement and direction and we have embarked upon the task of learning to tell the time.  Our Year 2 adults have been super impressed with our efforts towards something that is so tricky.

Once we finished learning about Mugurameno (a small village in Zambia, Africa), we flew back in time to 1666 to learn all about the Great Fire of London. Can you remember where it started and how long it lasted? Our great discovery was that since the fire, houses have been made of brick and stone to make them more fire-proof than wooden ones and roads are now wider than they used to be.

Creativity week saw us learn all about the Somerset Dragon. We read the story, recreated one of the beautiful pictures, drew our very own dragon and decorated one with our aboriginal style dotting. Great fun! We also had great fun following Alex T Smith to draw Mr Penguin in Art.
