What a fantastic first half term we have all had in Year 2: busy and exciting!
Thank you to everyone who came to see us at parents evening last term, we enjoyed having the chance to share with you how happy we are with the children’s progress in such a short time.
In Maths, we have been exploring place value by learning to identify tens and ones in numbers. We practiced comparing numbers using the greater than (>) and less than (<) symbols, partitioned numbers in different ways, and developed our skip counting skills in 2s, 5s, and 10s.
In English, we enjoyed reading The Smartest Giant in Town and The Snail and the Whale. We focused on character and setting descriptions, using a wide range of adjectives, nouns, verbs, and adverbs to bring our writing to life. One of our highlights was writing diary entries from the perspective of the snail, imagining all the exciting adventures shared with the whale!
In Science, we have been learning about living things, what they need and the habitats that provide them their shelter. Can you remember what Mrs Gren stands for and explain all 7 processes to someone at home?
In computing, we learnt about I.T. Can you tell someone at home what this stands for? We also looked at ways we can spend our time away from technology.  We have loved learning to sing different songs in Music and listen to a variety of piece of music.
We also jetted off around the world to explore the continents in Geography (what an amazing song we sing!) and zoomed in to Australia to create some aboriginal art.
We are thoroughly looking forward to our Trip on 10th November to Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm!
Have a fantastic half term break, whatever you do!
