This half term has been a busy and exciting one for Year 3, with lots of learning taking place across the curriculum. The children have shown great enthusiasm and curiosity in all of their subjects.

English

In English, Year 3 have been writing a biography all about Mary Anning. The children researched her life and achievements, learning about her important discoveries and why she is still remembered today. They practised organising information under sub-headings and writing clear, factual sentences. The finished fact files show how much knowledge the children have gained and how their writing skills are developing.

Maths

In Maths, we have been learning all about money. The children have been recognising coins, understanding their value, and using pounds and pence confidently. They will go on to practice finding change through practical activities and problem‑solving tasks, helping them to apply their learning to real‑life situations.

Science

Our Science lessons have focused on rocks, soils and fossils. The children have explored the different types of rocks and learnt how fossils are formed. They have enjoyed observing and comparing samples, asking questions, and developing their scientific vocabulary as they investigate the world around them.

Geography

In Geography, Year 3 have been learning all about volcanoes. The children have discovered how volcanoes are formed, where they are found around the world, and what happens when they erupt. This topic has sparked lots of excitement and curiosity, with pupils keen to share interesting facts and ask thoughtful questions.

Well done to Year 3 for their hard work this half term—we are very proud of their efforts and enthusiasm for learning!
