Welcome to Year 3!

The children have settled into Year 3 beautifully and have made a brilliant start to the new school year. We are very proud of how quickly they have adapted to their new routines and challenges. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm for learning already!

English

In English, we will be exploring a range of exciting books by Roald Dahl, including George’s Marvellous Medicine, The Twits, and many more. These fantastic stories will inspire the children to develop their reading and writing skills. Throughout the term, the children will be writing a variety of text types, including instructions, diary entries, character descriptions, and other creative pieces.

Maths

In Maths, we will begin by focusing on place value, learning about hundreds, tens and ones. The children will develop their understanding of how numbers are represented and compared. Later in the term, we will move on to addition and subtraction, exploring a range of strategies and methods, including the formal written column method.

Science

In Science, we are learning all about the human body. We will investigate how the skeleton supports our bodies, protects our vital organs, and helps us to move. The children will also learn about different bones and their important functions.

We are looking forward to an exciting term of learning and discovery in Year 3!
