School trip – Lyme Regis

Year 3 had a wonderful sunny day at Lyme Regis for our school trip! The day began with a fascinating fossil talk, where we learnt about different types of fossils found at Lyme Regis, including ammonites, the ichthyosaur, pterosaur and even some coprolites (fossilised poo)!  The children then enjoyed fossil hunting along the beach and were thrilled to even spot some dolphins in the distance! A highlight of the day was visiting the statue of Mary Anning, the famous fossil hunter we have been learning about!

Maths

This half term we have been learning about money! We can recognise different coins and notes, add amounts together and find change!

We have also been learning how to tell the time. We have learnt that the short hand tells us the hour and the long hand tells us the minutes. We have learnt to tell the time on analogue and digital clocks.

Computing

In computing we have been using Chromebooks for the first time. We have been learning about desktop publishing and making our own birthday party invites!

Geography – Volcanoes

In our geography lessons we have been learning all about volcanoes: where and why they form and how they erupt! We even learnt about the Ring of Fire!
