We’ve had an exciting and inspiring few weeks of learning!
Our Fantastic Trip to The Atkinson Gallery
The children enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Atkinson Gallery, where they explored a fascinating surrealist exhibition. The artwork sparked lots of discussion, curiosity, and creativity. They then channelled their ideas into their own surrealist-inspired collages, experimenting with imaginative combinations and bold visual choices.
British Science Week: Curiosity in Action
As part of British Science Week, the children embraced the theme of curiosity. They planned and carried out investigations to test which design and shape make the best boats, and which designs create the strongest bridges. There was plenty of thoughtful predicting, testing and refining as they worked like real engineers and scientists.
Design & Technology: Programming with Crumbles
In DT, pupils put their new programming skills to the test by using Crumble controllers. Working with motors, LEDs and switches, each group designed and built a working carousel that included at least two programmable features. The children showed fantastic problem-solving skills as they adapted their plans and debugged their code.
History: Learning from the Suffragettes
This term we have also been delving into the history of the suffragettes. The children learned about the brave individuals who campaigned tirelessly for women’s right to vote and the wider fight for equality. They explored the stories of significant figures such as Emmeline Pankhurst and Constance Lytton considering how their actions helped shape the society we live in today.
