It has been an immense term and the children have been brilliant!
There were so many highlights, that it is quite hard to choose the highest! We had an amazing time at Fleet Air Arm Museum and we returned with hundreds of pictures as we celebrated one of the most enjoyed topics of the teaching year: World War 2. The end of term Christmas performance was a roaring success and the children made the teachers really proud with their ability to learn a big selection of songs, poems and drama and they were very impressive on the night.
One of the best days however, was DT Day (again). Year 6 had the best time using their design and technology skills to create marvellous shelters that would provide accommodation in times of earthquake, tsunami, The Blitz and other cheery scenarios! Who wouldn’t want to live in a baked bean can or a house on lollipop stilts?
The children created a design and then worked hard to construct their design as best as possible, using small hand saws, glue-guns, sandpaper and a sharp eye for detail. After completion, the children evaluated their finished creation and discussed whether they had made any modifications and how they might improve it next time.
Just topping that however, might have been the last day of term and the children in Pandas had spent hours creating a ginormous paper chain, so here they are enjoying it one last time. Some of the children from Koalas came to help also when we had an incredibly wet lunch time.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and we look forward to working with your fabulous children once again in the spring term.
