Christmas Spirit in Year One!

Office UserYear 1, Mainstream curriculum, D.T Curriculum, Jaguars, Tigers

It has proven to be a very busy couple of weeks in Year One. With Christmas on the way, we have been decorating, sewing, cutting, gluing, colouring and learning lots of new skills! There isn’t much we haven’t done!

We designed a DT project which was linked to Christmas – we had to decide colours and patterns for our Christmas bauble. Then we learnt how to sew by practising with a ‘running stitch’, which then came in very useful when we made our Christmas bauble. We sewed two pieces of felt together and then a pipe cleaner at the top so we can hang it on our Christmas trees! Next, we used glitter pens which we had to squeeze carefully to decorate our baubles. We could choose from a range of colours and then chose something Christmassy to put on the front of our bauble.

We have also made Christmas calendars, followed a video that showed us how to draw Christmas trees, made beautiful Christmas cards and party hats and designed a Christmas folder each. Phew! We’ve been so busy.

And of course, we have spent a lot of time practicing and perfecting our Christmas performance, ready to show you on Wednesday! We have tried super hard to learn all the lyrics and the dance moves and we hope you will be super impressed with us.

Please take a look at some of our pictures below to see the Christmas magic in action!
We hope you all have a wonderful, restful Christmas and enjoy a well-deserved break.

See you in the new year!
From all of the Year One team.
