This year’s creativity week’s theme was Recycle, Reuse and Sustainability, so we created all of our artwork using sustainable or recycled materials. Thank you so much to all of you who sent such a wide range of materials in. With them we were able to create some wonderful work.
We started the week off by learning about why recycling is so important and the impact that excess waste can have on our environment, particularly single-use plastics. We then created some super found poetry using old book pages. Found poetry is where you use an existing text and then create a poem by selecting the various words and phrases that you want to use from it. We then decorated our poems and created cardboard frames to properly show them off.
We also used cardboard tubes and empty toilet rolls to create dinosaurs and 3D shape art. Once our dinos were decorated, we took them out into the wild or used them in our sand tray zen gardens to recreate Jurassic Park with almost as much mayhem.
The children were fantastic in Creativity week and managed the change of routine well, showing superb ideas and attention to detail.
