Over the last two weeks, Year 5 have begun to study the planets in our solar system. We have learnt the order of the planets, and we had a go at ‘speed learning’ to learn facts about each of the planets (Ask your children!!!). We really enjoyed our trip to We The Curious earlier this month where we watched a planetarium show, delving into lots of different facts about moons, and expanding our knowledge of the solar system.

In PSHE, we have been exploring the importance of empathy and why this is an essential life skill to develop. We are trying very hard to see things from the perspective of others and to understand that other people are just as important as we are.

We have been discussing the meaning of truth and its relevance in relation to the Christmas story in R.E. We read chapters from Luke and Matthew that gave different accounts of the birth of Jesus and considered which is true. Can they both be true? Speaking of Christmas, we have begun to learn the songs for our Christmas performance next month and look forward to our rehearsals in the hall soon.
