We can’t believe we have come to the end of Year 2! And what a wonderful year it has been! It has been a joy to teach your children over the past year, and we will certainly miss them!
Term 6 has been a busy one! We have had PSHE visitors in, a workshop on body percussion, HSBC the bank in to talk to us about money, sports day, creativity week and even made fruit kebabs in DT!

In English we have been continuing our work on Mr Penguin – a story we are all loving! We have completed lots of brilliant work around this book including making predictions, finishing the chapter, and even packing Mr Penguin’s all important satchel!

In Maths we have worked really hard to understand how to tell the time. We have been reading the clock at o’clock, half past and quarter past and to the hour, as well as beginning to understand 5-minute intervals. Can you tell your grown-up what the time is right now?

We have also been learning about how to describe movement and turns using language such as left, right, clockwise and anticlockwise.

In science we have been so excited to observe our pea plants grow! Every week we have loved bringing them in the classroom to measure how tall they are and draw them in our pea diary! We hope you all enjoy watching them to continue to grow at home!

Sports day was a wonderful day and we are so proud of all the effort the children put in to participating in all the different activities! The sprint races, the water relay, cone flip and puzzle race – they were all brilliant activities, and it was lovely to see everyone getting involved and having a lovely time – even though it was so hot!

The theme for creativity week this year was recycling – thank you for helping us with resources from home!
We started the week by learning all about reduce, reuse, and recycle. We learned about what sort of things we can recycle, the different things they can be made into and why it is important.
We used old magazines, tissue paper and bits of scrap paper to collage a turtle and we were so impressed with the care the children put into making the collage look just like a mosaic.
We also used bits and pieces from around the classroom such as Lego, tyres, glue stick lids, counters, and cubes to experiment with printing to see what kind of pattern each item made when dipped in paint and printed into our sketchbooks. We then were able to decide on a picture we could create using these different patterns, so we then turned them into beautiful beach scenes, flowers and even animals!
Our favourite activity had to be when we made musical instruments out of recycling! The children had so much fun filling their chosen container with dried food and decorating the outside! They were very creative, and they all loved playing their instruments together after. It made for a very loud lesson indeed!

We would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all the wonderful cards, generous gifts and kind words we have received as we approach the end of the year.
We hope you have a wonderful summer holiday!
