Tigers and Jaguars!

Office UserYear 1, Jaguars, Tigers

We have almost come to the end of the term already! We have had a very busy few weeks in Year 1, and the children have been doing lots of brilliant work!

In English we have spent time learning about farms, working on our skills of finding information from different sources like videos, books and information leaflets. We then used all the information we had found to create our very own fact files about different farm animals! We continued with the animal theme, which links to our science topic, by reading a lovely book called ‘A Tale of Two Feathers’ which taught us about nocturnal and diurnal animals. We then used what we had found out to write noun phrases and factual sentences. We have been working really hard to make sure we always use our capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.

In Maths we have continued to learn about numbers to 20, and have been learning about how our number bonds to 10 can help us with our number bonds to 20.

For example if we know that 4 + 6 = 10, then we also know that 14 + 6 = 20.

We have also been practicing doubling, and the children have been doing so well with knowing doubles of numbers!

In Science, we have been learning all about different animal groups, and identifying what animal goes in each different group!

In Art we have continued to work on our paper mache Faberge eggs and have now painted them! We are really looking forward to adding the detail onto them next week!
