What we have been up to in Early Years

Office UserEarly Years, Giraffes & Crocodiles, Penguins & Zebras

Our book of the week last week in Early Years was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The children had a go at making their own story maps and practiced their cutting skills to order the food the Caterpillar ate on each day of the week. The children also enjoyed getting messy mark making in the shaving foam and trying out our new outdoor play equipment.

In Maths the children were learning how to use a Part Whole model for subtraction and addition. We also revisited capacity, using containers and water and weighing with the balancing scales.

For our skills afternoons In RE the children learned all about New Year’s Resolutions and thought about something they would like to achieve, we wrote these down and have put them up in the classroom.

In Geography the children learned all about Minibeasts and their habitats The children did Art with Mrs Redman, using cotton reels and paints to create a Caterpillar print.

It was also our first week at Forest School and the children had great fun, we spent some time learning the Forest School rules and then had some time to explore, we can’t wait to go again next week!
