What an action-packed few weeks we have had in the lead up to Easter!

We have loved beginning the process of puppet making: practising sewing skills, encountering modroc; adding detail to our designs; beginning painting and creating a template for our clothing. It has been very exciting and we are looking forward to continuing the puppet making after Easter.

Flat Stanley has been a big focus in English, as we thought carefully about all the things we could get up to if we were flat. We wrote a letter from Stanley’s friend Thomas, inviting him to stay with us in California and a letter from Stanley to his Mum and Dad to let them know he was having a great time there. We have also enjoyed exploring descriptive techniques, applying them in describing a picture of a setting and creating an Easter shape poem.

In Science, we have been exploring materials and their uses. We were set the task of finding which material to recommend for a cat litter tray. The children came up with fantastic reasons as to why we couldn’t use certain materials and why we should investigate others. Can you remember which material we would recommend to the vet for the litter tray? We have also investigated which materials would be useful for a spoon, showing excellent reasoning skills in explaining why a chocolate spoon would not be useful… for most purposes!

As well as looking at materials, we have started the process of growing our seed potatoes. We have begun to chit our potatoes by placing them in an egg box on the window sill, making a prediction about what we think will happen and now we wait!

In computing, we have been using a data handling app to create pictograms and block charts, interpreting the data we have presented. We really enjoyed exploring all the different features it offered.

We have indeed been very busy and look forward to the Easter break! We wish you all a lovely Easter.
