Brookside Year 6 children were spoiled this week – British Science Week – with a trip to Millfield’s Biology department to meet some very interesting creatures! We were thrilled with the opportunity to be able to handle small animals and insects that the Longleat Keepers had brought to the school. They shared their expertise about the animals in their habitats; unique characteristics and adaptations that have occurred over the years.  The children asked some fabulous questions and the staff were very impressed with their scientific knowledge and vocabulary.  We will benefit from the visit in our current topic about Living Things and later in the year when we explore Adaptation, Evolution and Inheritance. The children loved handling a range of creatures: millipedes, a pancake tortoise, giant stick insects, cockroaches, pythons and guinea pigs.

Enjoy the range of lovely pictures of the children and animals in action and we would dearly like to thank Millfield and Longleat for making this experience wonderful for us!
