Designing a Motorised Vehicle

Our recent science topic -Electricity- was rounded off very successfully this week with a DT project: the brief for the project was “Design a motorised vehicle”.

The children had to dig really deep, using all their powers of collaboration, as they worked with a partner and resilience was much needed also, as they encountered many obstacles along the way. Perseverance was the order of the day too because the elastic band simply would not stay on the pulley and they refused to give up. Creativity was also in great demand, as they had to come up with an original design and find new ways to fix the problems that kept cropping up.  All that before we even mention the many DT skills that the children used and learned today: hacksaw skills, sanding, measuring, following a plan, strengthening a structure, modifying a structure, testing the vehicle and evaluating its performance.

Congratulations on a fantastic day’s work Year 6; your teachers are very proud of you!
