Curriculum Vision and Structure
Our overarching curriculum vision is that provision and curriculum are intrinsically linked. The curriculum is designed to build on existing knowledge and skills, and is tailored to each learner. It supports pupils in making connections between what they learn in school, first-hand experiences, and real-life situations. We also ensure pupils develop an understanding of the wider world through topics such as diversity and British Values, adapted to reflect current UK and global affairs where this is appropriate.
We promote the development of Characteristics of Effective Learning, including:
- Perseverance
- Resilience
- Independence
- Determination
- Engagement
Our Curriculum Framework

These qualities equip pupils with the skills they need to live independent and successful lives and they can be tailored to fit.
Our curriculum offer is divided into three pathways, reflecting the differing needs of our pupils:
- Pre-Formal – Learning for Life
- Early Years/Semi-Formal Curriculum
- Formal Curriculum – Ready to Learn
These pathways are flexible and responsive, ensuring that we meet the needs of our pupils rather than expecting pupils to fit into a fixed curriculum model.
