This will be an action packed term for the children in year 4. We have lots of fun activities planned and below is some of the key areas that we will be covering.
During our English lessons, we will be focusing on story writing along with creating information texts, Our stories will be based upon the animation 'The Lighthouse' and this will be followed up by our own story creations linked to the BBC Radio 2 competition '500 words'.
We will be looking at fractions before moving on to time and then switching our focus to dealing with decimals. We will be continuing our crusade to learn our times tables along with exploring reasoning in a greater depth.
Our topic for this half term is Ancient Egypt. We will be completing some map work, researching pharaohs, drawing our own hieroglyphics as well as much more.
PE will take place on a Monday.
Spelling test will take place on a Tuesday.
It has been a busy couple of weeks in year 4 with lots of learning taking place alongside a lot of fun.
On Thursday, the Dolphin class had their sharing assembly. It was great to hear them share all that they have been learning so far in year four as well as their excellent singing and a fantastic violin performance from Lauren and Freya.
During our English lessons, we have been using the Gunpowder plot as a stimulus to write from. We have re-written the ending to the story and written our own letters to Lord Monteagle to warn him of the terrible plan.
In our maths lessons, we have been working on using a formal written method to solve multiplication calculations and have moved on to use this method to help us solve word problems.
