Mrs Robertson and Miss Horler spent the February half term with our link school in Kenya: Ikumba Primary School. They had a great time building even stronger links with our school. They introduced a project that both schools will be working on this coming year: Choices for Life and Food and Farming.
They worked closely with Year 5 children and taught parallel lessons based on hunger within our home countries. This was to draw out critical thinking and problem solving. The children discussed the problems surrounding hunger and then thought about creative solutions that they could make that would have an impact within their own schools. And so our allotments became part of their plan. We will be sharing our developments over the coming year.
Brookside has developed a very special relationship with Ikumba Primary School in Kenya. Recently staff from both schools visited each other to share ideas and experiences of education in our counties.
Below is a PowerPoint showing some pictures from our recent visit. We shared a Loom Band project which Year 3 absolutely loved.
